Types of counselling

"What I mean when I say..."

Person Centred Counselling

Person-centred counselling is one of the humanistic approaches of counselling. Person centred counsellors believe that given the right conditions, a person can reach their full potential and become their true self.

To help you with this process the counsellor will be accepting of you, be honest with you and be themselves, they will also be empathic- meaning they will see things from your point of view and emotionally understand how the client feels.

Solution Focused

Solution focused therapy focuses on setting goals and working out how to achieve them. It's about the future rather than the past and promotes positive change by encouraging you to focus on what you can do, rather than what you can't.

CBT

Cognitive behavioural therapy a type of talking therapy. It is a common treatment for a range of mental health problems. It teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.
